I am certain that many people have seen this article already from the main page, but I just had to post it on this blog so some of you who did not see it may read it from here.

I also know that some of you may be wondering if the article"12 Simple Ways to Boost Your Brainpower" - posted by "Bill Phillips and the Editors of Men's Health" on Jun 23, 2011 is worth reading.

Well - It's all up to you - but just remember one thing - information is a key to an informed decision.

Having a good memory means being able to recall information easily which you have experienced in the past - so if this article can help you, why not read it.

As the author states below - many of you may be asking if this really works. Again, my answer to this is: try it for yourself - you have nothing to lose.

You lift weights to build your muscles. You run to boost your stamina. You take a multivitamin to fortify your immune system, and apply sunscreen to protect your skin.

All of that’s great. But what have you done for your brain lately?

Your brain is arguably one of the most important—and, as we age, most neglected—part of your body. At one point in your life, your mind was a steel trap. Now it's probably starting to resemble a colander. Life keeps pouring in, but you retain less and less of it.

The good news: Exercise—in this case, mental exercise—can strengthen your brain again. "You can add 10 or more years to your brain's useful life just by paying some attention to it," says P. Murali Doraiswamy, M.D., chief of biological psychiatry at Duke University's medical school. Tags: 12 Simple Ways to Boost Your Brainpower

Protecting Bahamian banking system from next global collapse

"Protecting Bahamian banking system from next global collapse" is the title of an article found in the "Tribune Newspaper" in the Bahamas.

I like this article.
You don't have to be an economist to read an article like this one. Anyone with a desire to learn can spend some time here...

...Personally I would say - Not just for the Bahamian banking system but also for the banking system of those countries whose economy depends upon the stability of the another country.

Published On: Monday, July 18, 2011
By JOHN TOMLINSON
From a speech delivered to the Nassau Institute
WITH the current threats to the state of world economies:

  • Sovereign debt at levels unprecedented,
  • Governments unable or unwilling to deal with levels of expenditure,
  • Taxpayers beginning to revolt,
  • Gold at an all-time high, and
  • Highly destructive natural disasters on the increase, who knows what event is going to trigger the next collapse? We can only be confident that something will.
When it does, we can also be confident that American Banks will, once more, be found to be wanting.

They remain holding massive levels of sovereign debt.
Massive levels of toxic mortgages still remain on their books. A new avalanche of foreclosures is heading in their direction.

In Europe, Greece approaches another bail-out, Portugal is receiving one and other countries are on "watch." The world is awash with debt: sovereign debt, corporate debt and personal debt are each at record and barely manageable levels.

No banking system is currently risk free. That includes the Bahamian banking system. Although it, along with Canada, managed to survive the downturn of 2007/2008 reasonably well, as the Bahamian banking system is currently structured, it too, is subject to failure. The next international banking collapse, however, is likely to be massively larger and more severe.

Can we protect our banks and our deposits? Yes, I believe so.
Before we attempt to look at solutions, however, I would like briefly to review the history of money and banking so that we may better understand what needs to be done.

Historical Perspective

God did not create money. Man did. Money is not some God-given inexplicable entity over which we have no control. Man created money in response to having settled on the land and making human beings dependent on exchange for survival.

If there are problems with money we can and must sort it out ourselves. One of the requirements for any fair market is an accurate measure of exchange value. We need to know what the fair value of the product of our own expenditure of energy is compared to the fair value of the product of someone else's energy. If you have recently installed Joomla! 1.5 or 1.6 on your server, you will probably get the "Welcome to the Frontpage" or "Home" title on your Frontpage. For some people it may be kind of annoying and sometimes, difficult to find where you can change this title.

For Joomla! 1.5
Go to your Joomla! 1.5 Administration site and login. In your administration site go to:

  • Menus - Main Menu (now you are in: Menu Item Manager: mainmenu).
  • Click on 'Home' link to edit this link (you are now in: Menu Item: Edit).
  • Click on Parameters System and change or delete the Page title.
  • - If you change the Page title, changed title will be displayed on your Frontpage as a title.
    - If you delete the Page title, Menu link will be displayed on your Frontpage as a title (in the present case 'Home' will be displayed as title, because 'Home' is the name of the link to the Frontpage)
    - If you don't want to display any title, set Show Page Title to 'No' as shown below.

It's truly Unbelievable!

Most of my free time I spend either designing web pages or just looking for some information about Forex. But this time, while searching for some apps on the net, I came across a site called ""Web Designer Depot". I was surprised to find so many applications.

While most people spend their time doing who knows what, others spend their time investigating and creating apps, so that some of us can use them and have fun.

You may not believe it but - every single day - there is something new on the net to be implemented, whether it's on beta version or final.

It may sound crazy but, have you ever imagined - one computer application - capable of revealing what you did yesterday based on your personal picture that you uploaded onto the social network site?

Well, with so many smart people out there - it is only a matter of time for that to happen. Just think for a second how Google Earth did their work.

How to Choose The Best Video Editing Software

Saturday, 09 July 2011 Category Blog

It was not until some time ago when a friend of mine - a singer - asked me if I could create a web page for him so he could promote his music and videos on the site, which I did.

After the site was done and ready for content to be added, he also wanted to be able to edit his music videos before uploading it to the server.

It was only until then that I realized that I was lost. I had no clue which video editing software was the right one for what he intended to do with his videos.

The other problem was that he was not prepared to spend a lot of money, so I had to come up with a solution.

During my research online, I came across an article where the author stated:

"If you're just starting out in digital video, or even if you're a season videographer, you may be confused by the vast range of video editing products you can find on the market today." which is true...

"While some software packages may cost up to $500 or even more, there are still many more out there that the cost may be way below $100." Also true!

But how do you decide which package to choose and still get the best deal?

Some of the most important aspects to consider are:

  1. Your budget
  2. Video Format & Video File Import and Export
  3. Speed & Flexibility
  4. Special effects
  5. Sharing on all Media

How do I recover my admin password?

Well, experts in the subject affirm that you cannot recover the existing password, but you can reset it to a new password. The passwords are stored using a one-way MD5 hash which prevents recovering the password. But you can reset the password by editing the password field in the database. Set the password to a known value and then you may log-in using that new password.

If for some reason you would to reset your Joomla! admin password, or if you need to offer admin access to somebody else, please change it by doing the following:

For many occasions I have had the need to do things in Joomla CMS when designing web pages, but because of my limitation in knowledge, I end up getting frustrated.

Joomla is a great CMS and all the information can be found in their docs. All you have to do is search for it - of course, you have to know what to look for.

Just some weeks ago somebody asked me if was there any way someone could put a module inside an article. The first thing I did was to go to Joomla and looked for it.

Here is my findings:

How to Remove a Virus

If you suspect you have a virus (or any other malware), you should take steps immediately. Sometimes such problems occur and system slow downs due to registry errors.

Get a good registry cleaner and pc optimizer from Intel Directory. The following procedures work for most malware (except perhaps for completely new, unknown or unusually malignant strains).

It is better to complete all steps, so you can be (reasonably) sure that all traces have been removed. Signs to look out for (infections may cause one or several of the following):
