It was not until some time ago when a friend of mine - a singer - asked me if I could create a web page for him so he could promote his music and videos on the site, which I did.
After the site was done and ready for content to be added, he also wanted to be able to edit his music videos before uploading it to the server.
It was only until then that I realized that I was lost. I had no clue which video editing software was the right one for what he intended to do with his videos.
The other problem was that he was not prepared to spend a lot of money, so I had to come up with a solution.
During my research online, I came across an article where the author stated:
"If you're just starting out in digital video, or even if you're a season videographer, you may be confused by the vast range of video editing products you can find on the market today." which is true...
"While some software packages may cost up to $500 or even more, there are still many more out there that the cost may be way below $100." Also true!
But how do you decide which package to choose and still get the best deal?
Some of the most important aspects to consider are:
- Your budget
- Video Format & Video File Import and Export
- Speed & Flexibility
- Special effects
- Sharing on all Media
- Video Format & Video File Import and Export
The second factor you must always have in mind is the ability to import and export various formats of video files. If you want to import Quicktime movie files or MP4 video and edit them, check the package to ensure you can import those video formats. Same thing for exporting video files - if you want your finished product to be a Windows Media file, ensure the package supports that feature. With PowerDirector, you can edit video formats that most video editing software can't handle and that is the case of AVCHD format.
- Speed & Flexibility
Speed & Flexibility when comes to Video Editing is one of the things anyone may want. It is frustrating when just in a middle of your project, your mouse does not move because your computer is freezing.
PowerDirector 9 is the world's first native 64-bit consumer video editor. While a 32-bit system can only use up to 4GB of RAM, TrueVelocity native 64-bit engine breaks the barrier and lets users utilize all the memory in the system in order for you to work on multiple HD video concurrently. TrueVelocity 64 also reduces latency and improves system efficiency as HD footages load faster and smoother than before.
With TrueVelocity 64 engine, PowerDirector processes more videos with much faster performance than its 32-bit counterparts.
- Special Effects
The special effects included in the video editing software you have decided to purchase, must as well be considered. Cheaper software like Corel VideoStudio will have more 'stock' special effects that do not allow customization. Packages like Adobe Premiere Pro will allow you more flexibility in special effects. But still, the new PowerDirector 9 can't be left behind. You can do amazing thing with no much knowledge.
- Sharing on all Media
